RIYADH: Saudi Arabia, through its aid agency KSrelief, has partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) to combat Yemen’s cholera crisis.

According to the source, a $2 million cooperation agreement was signed to provide medical supplies, support environmental sanitation, and strengthen vaccination campaigns. This brings Saudi Arabia’s total funding for cholera response in Yemen to $5 million.

The agreement was signed during the fourth annual Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum to target cholera-affected regions in Yemen, where over 2 million people have been infected since 2017.

Yemen’s healthcare system has been severely weakened by ongoing conflict, making it difficult to control cholera outbreaks. Contaminated water and food continue to spread the disease, with children among the most affected.

Saudi Arabia’s funding will help hospitals and health centers by supplying medicines, intravenous solutions, and antibiotics. WHO-led vaccination campaigns will also be reinforced to curb further outbreaks.
